You always knew that wherever Xavier was, there would be fun and laughter and a story or two to tell, and definitely a joke. Whether you believed the story was entirely up to you. He loved making people laugh. With a birth day of April 1st, Xavier loved to say that he was an April fool and which is why everybody loved celebrating his birthday with him. We feel the loss of this warm man, knowing especially how he loved having people around him, and sadly, the circumstances of our times deprived him of this. May his soul be in eternal peace, and we have you all in your thoughts and prayers.

Our friendship is going back many years and we have shared a lot of happy memories going back to Chelsea, where we first met by chance on Fulham Broadway on May 20, 1971 and all shared a beautiful flat. We three, made a very bold decision to immigrate to Canada in 1974, after a beautiful vacation, in November 1973 and again shared our first condo at 1360 Rathburn Road.
Xavier was to walk me down the alter, on our wedding day, but Amin Dada had different plans, and at the 11th hour Xavier was replaced by sudden and unexpected arrival of family from Uganda. We could not disappoint Xavier the second time over, so we honored him by making our first born, David his Godchild. Over the years, we have gone on holidays together and spent a lot of quality time together, they were always fun.
You will always be in our prayers.
Rest in Peace, Xavier.

It is with great sadness I received the sad news of Xavier's passing. Xavier had a very special place in my memory as a classmate and friend to Fernando - both always getting in trouble in school for pranks they played and blamed for things they had no part in. Xavier was a generous caring and welcoming person who made friends easily and left a lasting impression. He will be missed.

We knew Xavier well, and when he visited Australia he stayed with us. I will never forget his sense of humour and his laughter and how, every Christmas, he enclosed a typed letter for us, detailing his adventures.

Xavier was full of life and energy; I do not know from where he got all that energy. He had friends from all over the world and he always tried to keep in touch. I remember his loud voice and booming laughs and his great ability in storytelling! I prayed and hoped he would get through the ordeal when he was in the hospital, but it was not meant to be. God had other plans for Xavier, to enter into a better life with God, the saints, and angels. Heaven is our everlasting home, after our pilgrimage here on earth.

I first met Xavier when Dad invited his new work colleague home for dinner when I was a child (over 40 years ago) and subsequently at their work cricket matches and events. He would always play with my sister and I, telling us great stories - we were always laughing and had great fun. Then when Xavier moved to Canada, we all as a family kept in touch with him and he did me the great honour of coming to my wedding which meant a lot.
When Xavier came to London, we as a family would make arrangements to meet up with him and he never changed - always friendly, jolly, and full of life.
He had such an infectious laugh and left my sister and I with wonderful childhood memories.
My sister and I feel very lucky to have known Xavier and he will be greatly missed.

truly unique person has departed this earth for a better place. We will remember Xavier for a variety of reasons. From the first time we met him at 440 Rathburn in 1974, we were 'ambushed’ by his larger than life personality, desire to communicate, sense of humour and propensity for mischief. When he entered a room, he made it his chamber. For a lot of folks at that time, many of whom like him were new immigrants, that was a beacon of light away from their mundane adjustment to Canadian life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. To our friend Xavier we say "Adios Amigo" – until we meet again.

When Xavier came to Australia years ago and stayed with us in Sydney for a few days, he brought so much laughter and joy! He was kind and always very helpful. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as I am sure you all will miss him dearly. He will be missed by all those who knew him and may his memories live on for years to come.

Please convey our condolences to your family.

[Xavier] was a gem of a person. Loved by all and was great fun to be with and went out of his way to extend a helping hand. My husband and I are based in Goa after our retirement in 2003 and Xavier looked me up when he came to Goa. It was wonderful meeting him so many years after I left school in Dar es Salaam. We met again on his next visit to Goa.
On our maiden visit to Canada in 2014, Xavier met us at the Mississauga airport and dropped us off at our hotel. The next day Xavier and Ray took us on a visit to Niagara Falls which for us was a memorable experience. A few days later, at a class reunion organized by Cellie/Tony at their lovely home, Xavier entertained us with his singing. Accompanied by Ray at the piano, Xavier sang just like Louis Armstrong!
Xavier will always be fondly remembered by us. More so when we meet at future class reunions. My husband Teo joins me in sending our heartfelt condolences to you and the rest of the family on a very sad loss.

Xavier was popular and known the world over for his charm, a wonderful sense of humour, and generosity. With his quick-wittedness and unlimited supply of jokes, and always looking on the bright side of life, he would bring smiles, fun, and laughter to all he met and am sure the community at large. These are the fond memories of Xavier that will remain after the tear-filled eyes have dried and may these reflections of his charm and well-lived life give all the family the strength and courage at this difficult and sad time. I hope you find comfort in knowing that we too share in your sorrow. Xavier’s memory will live on. May he rest in peace.

We remember Xavier from his days in Tanga, and later here in Canada.
Xavier was one of a kind, and his huge heart and vibrant character left us with many a smile on our faces. We will all remember his captivating stories and adventures.
I personally enjoyed his company in recent years and Vasco and I had the privilege of having him cook us dinner a few of those times.
I will remember Xavier as a man who lived his life to the fullest, taking every opportunity to do the things he wanted to do. His love for his family was first and foremost.
He always left me with a smile on my face, but I had a few deep conversations with him as well. He has left a mark in our hearts.
Xavier will always be missed and remembered for his generosity to those in need, especially his ‘family’ in Cuba, who we know he adored and supported.
He had given me a copy of his autobiography, which I will treasure.
May our friend and brother, Xavier, Rest In Peace.
He will truly shake up the heavens when he meets up with all the folk that have gone before us.
Adios Xavier - do touch us with your sense of humour every once in a while.
Blossom and Vasco

If anyone wanted any assistance, he was there instantly to help – a trait he derived from his fantastic parents and loving siblings. Can't forget the car rides he gave older brother, Steve, and myself to attend Changombe social events in the mid-sixties.
His hearty laughter and great jokes kept folks on their feet at any gathering. These are some of his hallmarks that many of us will never forget. 74 years young - he had a world ahead of him to share with all his loved ones and great friends. He was taken away too soon. But the Good Lord had other ideas. Be consoled that he is now free of pain and has joined the immortals.

I will always remember Xavier as a warm, outgoing, friendly person who loved travelling. He was a fantastic storyteller with wonderful sense of humour and a real gentleman with a big heart. Xavier lived life to the fullest and always made people welcome. He was always willing to help anyone in need. The loss of someone dear to us is never easy, but may you take comfort in the fact that you are surrounded by people that love and care for you. Although your beloved Xavier has been taken away from you so suddenly, may the memories of his life bring comfort to you all as you grieve. May Xavier’s soul rest in peace after all of life's joys and struggles and may perpetual light shine on him. Goodbye dear friend, we will miss you!

We were truly saddened to learn of Xavier’s death. Indeed, many have lost a friend who made it a point to always connect with not only people of his age but many others both younger and older. He had a gregarious spirit that will be missed but will also be forever remembered. May he have had a peaceful end to what was a life filled with good friends, many experiences, and delicious food!

We met Xavier when we first arrived in Toronto through mutual friends and he became a very dear friend to us, attending all our family celebrations and parties and we attended all his. He lived life to the fullest and he brought joy to everyone. We can never forget his jokes, laughter, kindness, and generosity. We pray for Xavier and for your families' comfort and strength during this difficult and painful time. Our hearts are breaking but we know that he has gone home to his Heavenly Father. We pray that all the wonderful memories of Xavier will bring comfort to all at this difficult time.

I still can’t believe that Xav is gone. He was a good and loyal friend and I will never forget the good times with him and his friends. I sent some pictures earlier today explaining a prank that I was involved in; even til today I remember how fun it was planning the prank with Les and Xavier.

I am very shocked and saddened to learn the passing away of dear friend Xavier Sequeira. Xavier was very kind. Friendly. Humorous and, above all, a very generous and caring human being. I have been acting as his accountant for more than 25 years and whenever he came to see me, he always spoke passionately how he was helping poor families in Cuba and made a point of visiting them every year. I will miss him dearly and will pray that his soul rest in peace.

It is hard to believe he is no longer with us. Xavier is now at peace from all the pain he has gone through. He touched so many lives with his humour and laughter and always enjoyed conversations with anyone, be it a kid or adult. One never knew if he was serious or joking until he expressed himself. We talked about food recipes as he enjoyed food! He will be remembered fondly for his caring and unselfish ways. Xavier was a kind and humble man and will be missed for sure. May his soul rest in peace

We met [Xavier] during one of our visits to a Goan restaurant while we were waiting to be seated. He was friendly and talked to us as if we knew each other. At the end of our meal, he insisted we take a container of beans which he had lovingly prepared. We were taken aback by his friendly and generous personality. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

We met Xavier first in the early 1970s and he certainly made an impression. We have, over the years, spent many happy and hilarious hours with Xavier in Toronto and England. He was larger than life and was partly why we named our oldest child Xavier. Our best wishes to Xavier's family at this sad time.

Xavier was a big-hearted individual and had a special spot in his heart for the needy. He very kindly took a lot of clothing to Cuba, which I always packed, ready for him, prior to his departures. In the past years Xavier was a Santa Claus, excitedly purchasing items for the lovely kids and their mother, whom he has now left behind. Xavier, as we all know, has a special space in the many rooms our heavenly Father has promised us. We shall rejoice, on earth and he is rejoicing in heaven.

Uncle Xave was by far one of the most interesting and vibrant personalities I have ever met. While I always look forward to family events at your home, I especially love going in hopes of seeing your siblings, especially Uncle Xavier - he always knew how to make me howl with laughter with a good story or joke. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to have met him.
-Rob Amaral

At family gatherings I always noticed how he'd go out of his way to speak with me and always seemed genuinely interested in our conversations. That and the fact he reminds me of my own uncle made me feel like I really knew him. I got the sense he had a knack for making people feel that way and I always appreciated it. I know a lot of people will miss him.

What a wonderful friend Xavier was. I spoke to him, briefly, in early July, at which time he expressed some discomfort, but spoke, proudly, of some of his accomplishments in Cuba. We also discussed his next trip, after the pandemic, and about some of the computer equipment and clothes that he wanted to take for a very special child and a local Mission run by local African Sisters. He was, indeed, a very generous, kind man. May his soul rest in peace.
-Osmond and Gloria Remedios

It was with sadness that we received the news that Xavier passed away. To us, Xavier was always a warm, jovial and bubbly person. What you saw in him is what he was - very sincere. I am sure the family will miss him a lot. It is heartwarming to note that despite the challenges of our present time, you all made sure that Xavier was given a fitting send-off to his maker. May God give you all the inner strength to bear your loss and may Xavier’s soul rest in peace.

It is at times like this that we are always lost for words .... our heartfelt and sincerest condolences on the passing of your beloved brother, Xavier. I still remember his bubbly and energizing mannerism - he surely would crack us up, laughing at parties. These are my words of inspiration and healing that I turned to when I lost both my brothers, Alirio and Claudius:
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
May all his good memories give you and your family strength.

May his soul rest in peace!
